So, I am finally back, and am writing while I watch my sweet baby girl sleeping soundly next to me. She is so cute!! I just can't stand it!
Elliott P. Quincy arrived January 9, 2011. Just one day early. So much for going THAT early, huh? She weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces, and was 19 inches long. She has long arms, much to her dad's chagrin, and big feet. We think she was absolutely beautiful, but we are pretty biased. :)
My water broke about 1:30am, January 9, while sleeping in bed. Thanks to a late night phone call to Jill (little did she know this would be the first of MANY), I knew what to wear to the hospital. :) Josh was on his game, and took everything we needed except anything for him. He even had the car sear all ready to go! We drove to Salt Lake on the snow packed roads in one of our worst snow storms this season, of course. Thankfully, I wasn't having any pain until we got into
SLC. We arrived and waited around until about 5am for my epidural. The nurse finally checked me about 8am, and I was at 9 centimeters! Finally, about 11am, the Dr (not my
dr, she was on vacation) arrived, and Elliott was born at 11:54am.
The first week was rough for both Elliott and I. Little did I know, this motherhood thing is HARD work!! I don't think anyone could have prepared me for the life changing event having a baby is. I love every minute of it, but man, it is tough. Elliott didn't know which was day and night, and kept us up a few nights, but has successfully figured it out now. Thank goodness! In fact, she is figuring out how much mom doesn't like to get up in the middle of the night, and has started going between 4-5 hours between feedings at night. All of you who have a baby who slept through the night at 2 weeks can shove it. :) (JILL!)
Elliott went to the Dr. yesterday for her 2 week check up, and gained almost a pound! She now weighs 8 pounds 6 ounces! The Dr. was very impressed, considering they just want babies to be back up to birth weight at 2 weeks. Not our kid, apparently. She is going to be a chunk!
She is a beautiful chunk! I'm so glad she's coming to play today! And I think that you are doing an awesome job of taking care of her!
ReplyDeleteI love that she is a chunk. I hope she just keeps chunking up! I'm so glad you're back to blogging as well. I want to watch that baby grow up. I bet she's ready for her first vacation too - I'm thinking northern California. We miss you guys. Glad you're getting some more sleep. I thought I had it pretty good, because Noah and Ava slept through the night pretty early. Grant, however, woke up every 3-4 hours until he was a year old!
ReplyDeleteI'm so smitten by her! She is such a cutie with a little of both of you in her, I love it. Mom work is tough but it's great too, hard to explain, but I think you'll know what I mean. We're so happy for you! Way to fatten her up, that's awesome.
ReplyDeleteI thought we abused you and Josh enough to help you feel fully prepared for Elliot. It's a different kind of fun now - you probably are thinking, it will be hard to spontaneously hook up the boat and head to the lake. Multiply that feeling by 3 and you start feeling really old, really fast - parents work a little harder for that kind of fun.
ReplyDeleteMeg, she's just perfect. I can't wait to meet her in person. You probably want to come down here and warm up for a few weeks, don't ya?
ReplyDeleteYay for baby girls! Congrats!
